Museum exhibition
The Lithuanian artist Augustas Serapinas brings his Physical Culture series, dedicated to gyms, to Nottingham Contemporary. The artist’s exercise equipment functions as both a training facility and an exhibition space, blending into the surrounding landscape. The work is based on the artist’s personal experience at the M. K. Čiurlionis National School of Art, where the focus of art education was on developing technical skills such as drawing, sculpting and painting by copying nature and plaster models of Greek and Renaissance sculptures. The solo exhibition opens this summer, on June 6, and runs until September.
