APALAZZOGALLERY is pleased to present the next Project Room, which is dedicated to Maria Szakats and entitled Able Bodies. This marks the artist’s first collaboration with the gallery and features a new series of works created specifically for the occasion.
In her latest creations, Szakats brings allegories of human nature to life through embroidered imagery, drawing inspiration from the tradition of fables featuring animals and plants as seen in medieval and Renaissance tapestries. Through a contemporary panoply of allegorical figures, the artist explores the concept of fragmented personal interiority, with the human body itself remaining absent.
