In collaboration with APALAZZOGALLERY of Brescia, Hotel Byron is delighted to present PASTICHE, a personal exhibition by Paolo Gonzato curated by Fabrizio Meris for the“Arte al Byron” program.
With PASTICHE, Gonzato evocatively reflects on the artistic practice of the famous Italian engraver and architect Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778), particularly on his ambitious marble vases, such as the renowned Boyd Vase, currently housed in the British Museum in London. A “pastiche” is a composition deliberately created by its author to imitate, as closely as possible, the style of one or more artists. The final product is thus a historical forgery, where reconstructed elements mix with contemporary one.
