Exhibition
Barovier & Toso Gallery, in collaboration with APALAZZOGALLERY, presents A Shea Garden, a solo exhibition by Ibrahim Mahama, aligned with the opening of the Venice Biennale.
At the heart of the project are traditional terracotta vessels from northern Ghana: simple objects once used to store grain or poultry feed, deeply rooted in the rhythms of daily life and agricultural cycles. Some take the form of open bowls, used to store food throughout the seasons, while others are spherical containers with small holes that allow chickens to peck at the grain. These pots were often placed inside larger, shallow bowls that stabilized their rounded shape, demonstrating the practical ingenuity of their design.
