Eva & Franco Mattes and Marta Pierobon at Cremona Contemporanea

Exhibition

Eva & Franco Mattes and Marta Pierobon take part in Cremona Contemporanea Art Week, which stems from the need to reaffirm in Italy and abroad the value of Cremona through a dialogue between its places and contemporary artists.

Eva & Franco Mattes have been invited to intervene in a special and previously unused venue for the exhibition: the Crypt of the Camposanto dei Canonici. The interior of this evocative and historically rich location proved to be the ideal setting for the artists to present a new, never-before-shown work. The installation draws from one of the duo’s most well-known and viral series and features a figure that seems to either welcome or perhaps repel the viewer, introducing them to a visual and conceptual short-circuit.

Marta Pierobon’s work, presented for the first time during Cremona Contemporanea Art Week 2025, marks a completely new project and a daring exploration of a medium the artist has never used before. For this edition, Marta has created a monumental inflatable plastic sculpture eight metres high and over four metres wide. The playful and ironic character of the work is one of the key points of experiencing this large-scale sculpture. The work represents one of the most significant projects in the programme, not only because of its conceptual weight but also because of the visual impact it will have in the exhibition.
