Museum exhibition
The Queens Museum presents a newly commissioned work by the internationally acclaimed artist, Sonia Boyce. Entitled Demonstrate, this ambitious installation recognises the essential power of the voice as a vehicle for freedom, collaboration and radical imagination, and is emblematic of Boyce’s social practice.
The exhibition is based on film and photographic documentation created during two days of gatherings and events at the Queens Museum. By collaborating directly with local organisations, the film shoots brought together a diverse group of New Yorkers, including artists and educators, as well as the Resistance Revival Chorus, to explore the relationship between artistic expression and community formation.
